PRF vs PRP — what changed, and why it matters

For two decades, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) was the regenerative gold standard. Draw blood, spin it down, separate the platelet layer, inject. Simple. Effective.

PRF — Platelet-Rich Fibrin — is the newer-generation protocol. The core difference is what is left out: no additives, no anti-coagulants. The blood is processed without modifying its biology, which means the fibrin matrix stays intact.

Why does that matter? Because the fibrin matrix is the scaffolding. Without it, PRP releases its growth factors quickly and is gone in hours. With it, PRF releases growth factors slowly, over days. The healing response is gentler, longer, and clinically more effective for most skin and hair indications.

In practice, that means less bruising, less downtime, and longer-lasting results. At JJ Cosmetic, PRF is the default for full-face rejuvenation, under-eye work, scalp hair regrowth, and bio-filler. PRP still has a role in some sports-medicine and joint applications — but not in cosmetic regeneration.

PRF is your own blood, processed without additives. That single difference changes everything about how it heals.
